As some of you who have read one of my earlier posts state that it is a requirement for you to set up a Server Role for WSS before you install MOSS 2007 on a Windows 2008 Server I now stand corrected. Well actually i was correct the whole time but the boys from MSFT pulled a fast one on me and didn?t even tell me :) Last week while listening to Tom Rizzo who heads up the SharePoint Product Team he mentioned this... Yes i did a doubletake and coughed out loud... Later while having lunch with Tom I asked him about this and he stated that this was being pulled as a requirement and would be addressed in an upcoming RC for Windows 2008. There will be no need to add this service as a role and you will be able to do your normal installation of MOSS on top of Windows 2008 as you normally do now with Windows 2003.
Sorry for any confusion and I will be doing many more posts on the interoperability of the two in the upcoming months. Hey guys lets face it... Windows 08 will be released early next year. Get on it now and learn the system.. its pretty damn sharp. I am now running all my labs on this OS. |
